Ne-Yo will perform at the MJCI Celebration, which is an annual celebration for the championship’s personalities and VIP invited visitors. Ne-Yo feels blessed for getting the chance to perform in the city where he has grown up. Ne-Yo said that performing in Las Vegas is marvelous, and getting an opportunity to perform in celebration of Michael Jordan’s tournament is making him feel very good.

Ne-Yo’s status holds the position among the best in the music industry. Ne-Yo’s concert will be a night of celebration which will be held for two days for the MJCI Celebrity Amateur Golf Tournament. This will be followed by weekend’s Celebrity-only Tournament. Well known comedian Cedric the Entertainer, will also entertain the audience along with Ne-Yo.

MJCI marks only the second time the exclusive golf course will open its doors to the public. Proceeds from the charitable tournament will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, UC San Diego Nevada Cancer Institute, James R. Jordan Foundation, Opportunity Village and Cats Care, the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats’ charity arm. Since its inception in 2001, MJCI has raised more than $6 million for charity.

Ne- Yo said that he understands the importance of charity as he has his Mother’s teaching still fresh in mind. He said that the importance of giving back is very important in life. He prays so that he can do it through his own charity named The Compound Foundation which helps youth in promoting care.

Apart from his career, Ne-Yo is also quite happy with his personal life. His girlfriend Monyetta Shaw was seen sporting a huge engagement ring when she came last week to the Next Cool Thing event in Atlanta. The singer of such major hits like ‘So Sick’ and ‘Sexy Love’ could not be seen with her lover. However, it looks as though their relationship is on a roll as Monyetta was all smiling and beaming with glow as she flashed the big, shiny rock on her hand.

Ne-Yo said last year that he had already proposed to Monyetta. The news of their engagement may seem surprising to some as there was some stories of him seeing a stripper, which apparently began when Monyetta was carrying their second child.

The singer is also open on helping Justin Bieber with his career. Ne-Yo believes that as Justin gradually gets older, he will need to figure out a way in which he can avoid the “has been” fate shared by Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block. It is important that Justin has a long shelf life and for that to happen he must write songs in a way in which his listeners could relate to.

Ne-Yo describes Andrew “Smoky” Salem as a more lighthearted version of the real-life characters on which his role is based on. Between the years 1943 and 1945, the African-American pilots of the Tuskegee Airmen shot down numerous Nazi German aircrafts. It took more than two decades for George Lucas to finally get the idea of this movie portrayed onto the big screen.

The movie was shot in Prague. To ensure authenticity, director Anthony Hemingway felt that it was important for his actors to bond and develop closeness in the same way the Tuskegee Airmen did. The Airmen symbolized a band of brothers who stood against the racist idea that the blacks were cowardly and mentally inferior to the whites.

In his interview, Ne-Yo referred to his sci-fi movie ‘Battle: Los Angeles,’ and said that he has the experience of doing a boot camp previously. However, the boot camp in that movie involved present-day marines. He confessed that doing a boot camp for “Red Tails” was difficult, especially since the movie tells a story that is set in 1942.

The director decided that to create the effective mood for the movie, the cast involved should listen to music that is from 1940s. The clothing and food they use should be from the same era as well. Ne-Yo says that while filming they survived on rations, lived in tents and tolerated the snowy cold weather.
